Gen Z tops claims for insurance

People born in the 1990s made up over half of the claims for health insurance in the first six months, an industry report said yesterday.
By June end, ZhongAn Online Property and Casualty Insurance saw the number of health insurance claims jump 180 percent year on year. And post-1990s generation policy-holders filed 54.5 percent of the claims, with the proportion of males (52 percent) higher than females.
In terms of compensation amount, medical treatment accounted for nearly 70 percent, followed by critical diseases (12.6 percent) and death (10.8 percent), the report said.
Diseases with relatively high compensation include malignant tumors, heart/myocardial diseases and fractures. Among them, lung, breast and thyroid were the top three tumors covered.
